Chat

The Chat sits at the heart of your watsonx Workshop session. It is your personal AI guide designed to support learning, strategy, and execution across the full sales journey. Whether you’re building pipeline, working through a deal, or exploring a new topic, the agent helps you ask better questions, surface relevant insights, and turn information into action.

The agent adapts to your goals in real time, maintaining context across your session so each question builds naturally on the last. It draws from trusted IBM portfolio knowledge, public case studies, uploaded documents, and enabled web search to generate tailored outputs such as discovery questions, client briefings, demo scripts, close plans, and follow-ups. By keeping context, citing sources, and prompting logical next steps, the Chat helps you stay focused, move faster, and make confident, well-informed decisions throughout the sales process.

What Can You Do with the Chat?

  • Ask Questions Get clear, trusted answers about IBM products, industries, competitive positioning, and value propositions — all in one place. The agent supports natural, conversational questioning and offers Skills which is smart, pre-generated prompt suggestions to help guide your thinking, even when you’re not sure what to ask next. As the conversation progresses, the agent maintains session context, validates responses using reliable sources, and helps your questions build on each other naturally.
  • Explore Use Cases Dive into real client scenarios and explore business challenges with solution strategies by industry or role. watsonx Workshop helps you connect client pain points to the right IBM solutions, making it easier to surface use cases you can confidently bring into conversations.
  • Learn and Work in Your Preferred Language watsonx Workshop supports multilingual interactions across sessions and agent experiences, allowing you to learn, practice, and generate content in your preferred language. This helps reduce cognitive friction, improves comprehension, and enables more confident preparation for client conversations in global or multilingual environments.
  • Visualize Ideas and Flows Use built-in Mermaid diagram support to generate clear visual representations such as process flows, solution architectures, decision trees, and conceptual maps directly within the conversation. These visuals help break down complex ideas, align understanding across teams, and support clearer thinking during deal preparation, internal reviews, or enablement discussions.
  • Generate Content Turn ideas into polished, client-ready assets in minutes. From prospecting emails and one-pagers to business cases, demo scripts, meeting agendas, and close plans, the agent helps structure content, tailor it to your audience, and reduce hours of manual preparation. Outputs can be refined, reformatted, or adapted for different stakeholders with simple follow-up prompts.
  • Handle Objections Get comfortable with the tough questions before they come up. watsonx Workshop’s agent lets you practice responses to common objections, whether around pricing, competition, security, or AI adoption, so you can show up with clear, confident answers in live conversations.
  • Stay Current with Web-Enabled Insights When enabled, the agent can leverage web search to bring in relevant, up-to-date external context such as market trends, company news, and industry initiatives. This complements IBM-curated content and portfolio knowledge, helping you ground conversations in current, real-world information while maintaining transparency around sourced insights.
  • Collaborate Through Session Sharing Easily share your session with teammates using a secure link, allowing others to view the session context, uploaded documents, and generated outputs. This enables seamless collaboration on deal strategy, RFP responses, and enablement activities, helping teams stay aligned, build on shared insights, and reduce duplicated work, while keeping individual chat history private.
  • Build Confidence Use the agent as a safe space to rehearse key talking points, role-play client conversations, and validate your understanding. With integrated role play and Practice Gym capabilities, including session history and feedback, you can review past performance, iterate on your approach, and build confidence across every stage of the sales process.

How It Works

Once you create a session, the Chat appears in the center of your screen. You can:

  1. Chat Freely Ask questions or enter prompts naturally with no advanced AI prompting required. The Chat is pre-trained to understand your session goal and guide the conversation, helping you refine questions, explore ideas, and move smoothly from learning to execution without friction.
  2. Use Context The Chat automatically tailors responses based on your selected products, industry, and session focus. You can further refine context by adjusting settings or uploading relevant documents such as RFPs, presentations, or notes, enabling more precise, client-specific insights, even for complex, multi-product scenarios
  3. Access Source Material When relevant, the Chatr cites the documents used to generate its responses. This gives you transparency into where information comes from and lets you quickly verify details or dive deeper into the source material with confidence

Pro Tips

  • Be Specific: The more detail you provide, such as client goals, industry, or deal state, the more tailored the agent’s responses will be.
  • Use Follow-Ups: Ask follow-up questions to dig deeper, refine outputs, or explore alternative approaches. The agent keeps context, so each question builds on the last.
  • Check Accuracy: Always review AI-generated content before sharing externally. Use cited sources to validate details and ensure alignment with client and compliance requirements.
  • Iterate and Refine: Don’t stop at the first response. Ask the agent to simplify, expand, reframe for a different audience, or tailor content to a specific role.
  • Practice Before You Share: Use role-play and rehearsal features to test messaging, handling objections, and build confidence before live client interactions.
